World's Largest Ukrainian Sausage

Up near Edmonton is Ukrainian country, if you couldn't have figured that out by the multiple Ukrainian roadside attractions. So on another trip to Edmonton where we stayed for the weekend we decide to take a road trip one day to occupy our time and I got to pick where we went. So of course I couldn't pass up the opportunity to see another world's largest thing. So we drove to Mundare, Alberta to see the world's largest Ukrainian sausage. I know this is probably weird coming from me but this is an odd world's largest thing. It looks just like you would think...a sausage in large form. It is very easy to find. Just drive east of Edmonton until you see the signs for Mundare and follow the road to town and as you come to town you will be able to see it. It's on Sawchuk street right across from a gas station. The sausage is 42 feet tall and weighs over 6 tons. When we went to see it obviously was winter and freezing cold. My hands could barely hold the camera to take pictures. Also the pathway to the sausage was covered with deep snow so had to trudge through it to get a closer look. I suggest waiting until good weather to see this one.

World's Largest Ukrainian Egg

I stayed over night in Edmonton after seeing the world's largest western boot and the next day we decided to take a detour home and stop in Vegreville, Alberta. Ok so it really wasn't a detour, it really was out of the way by like an hour, actually I think more. But I am very convincing and I think in the end it was really worth it lol :) Just an fyi there is nothing between Edmonton and Vegreville and when I say nothing I mean absolutely nothing. It is one of the most boringest drives ever. Now that I've sold that trip it really is kinda cool once you get there. Now when I saw that these things are kinda cool, I mean cool for a world's largest thing. It is on the far side of town...if you are coming from Edmonton, on the north side of Highway 16A, in Elk's Park. It is 25.7 feet wide, 18.3 feet high, and weighs 5000 lbs. It was made out of 3500 pieces of aluminum. It was designed by a guy named Ron Resch who I assume built it too.

World's Largest Western Boot

This is actually when I decided to find all the world's largest things and I sought this one out on a trip to Edmonton, Alberta. It is located at 10007 167 Street NW right in front of Stallion Boot and Jean Company. It is made out of fiberglass and almost 40 feet tall. It is what remains of the old boot factory that was there. There are other world's largest boots but this one is the world's largest lone boot. The other ones are pairs of boots. So this one counts.

World's Largest Cherry and Spoon

I found this world's largest by accident actually. I saw it took some pictures and then realized later it was a world's largest. It is at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is 354" x 618" x 162" and weighs 7000 lbs. In the winter when there is snow on it, it looks cool because it looks like whipped cream on the cherry. Unfortunately I saw it in the summer, so no snow. The other thing that makes this cool is that it is also a fountain. Some days water sprays from the stem of the cherry. Again unfortunately not this day. Apparently I wasn't having much luck with making this thing look cool.

World's Largest Axe

This is the first world's largest thing I ever saw. I was actually forced to see it on a family trip out east. At the time I thought it was soo not interesting and kind of lame, but now...ok it is still kind of lame but a little cool too :) It is in Nackawic, New Brunswick right in the village near the arena. It is 60 feet tall and weighs over 55 tons. It was erected to celebrate the importance of the woods industry in the life of the village. There is actually a time capsule in the head of the axe. So this is the beginning of my journey :) Hope you enjoy!
